Sales of the iPhone 5 During Debut Weekend
The first weekend of iPhone sales showed not-so-incredible results. According to Apple, the opening weekend of official smartphone sales sold 5 million devices. This is one million units more than the results showed by iPhone 4S sales year.
Still Apple couldn’t reach those sales of the iPhone 5 as analysts predicted. Experts believed that the company would sell about 8 million devices during debut weekend or at least 6 million gadgets in case of the worst scenario.
These are not the only achievements Apple can boast. The debut weekend was a huge success to the Cupertino-based company. By the way, the pre-orders also reached nice numbers. Customers pre-ordered over 2 million units in the first 24 hours of iPhone 5 official pre-orders announcement.
High iPhone 5 Demand
The sales of the iPhone 5 have proved that the demand for this device is incredible. As Apple’s CEO Tim Cook said, the company is working hard so that every consumer would get the sixth-generation iDevice into the hands as soon as possible.
According to Mr. Cook, the company has managed to sell out its initial supplies. Of course, the retailers keep getting iPhone 5 shipments and offer customers to buy iPhone 5 online. The delivery dates are mostly offered for October, so Apple is hoping that consumers are patient and can wait a couple of weeks till their device is delivered.
Upgrade to iOS 6
Apple also shared the number of its devices updated to the latest firmware version. As the California tech giant states over 100 million gadgets have be updated to iOS 6. This sounds astonishing.
This firmware has been introduced on September 19th. It offers over 200 new features to iPhone and iPad owners including the new Passbook app, Map program, improved Siri and updated Safari options, etc. Learn more about iOS 6 features and where to download it here.
